A Time for Learning and Networking

Larry Tessier, owner of Busy Bee Cleaners, attended a Methods for Management combined meeting of the USA WEST COAST and CANADIAN drycleaning bureaus in Mexico City on February 9 & 10th, 2023.  This meeting was hosted by Tintoreria Bosques.

Members of 9 top drycleaning businesses spent 2 days evaluating the various aspects of the host drycleaning business, giving suggestions and advice in the areas of performance that could be integrated for improved results.  Tintoreria Bosques has been a member of the MfM for 3 years and this was the first time they have hosted a plant inspection.

The next meeting will be held in Aspen, Colorado hosted by Canyon Cleaners on May 18 & 19, 2023.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year from the staff at BusyBee Cleaners!

We hope that you and your family had a fun-filled Christmas and are enjoying a great start to the New Year.  As we enter a new year we recognize that many people may be challenged with the winter blues.  As Bell Let’s Talk Day approaches on January 25, 2023 and other year long initiatives and actions are introduced to support those in need, we wanted to express our thoughts.  As a business BusyBee Cleaners is involved in supporting many community organizations and we strive to connect and form relationships with our customers.  We want our customers and community to know that we care and support you!

Busy Bee Cleaners Host Methods of Management Meeting

Earlier this summer, we were selected to host a 2-day Methods for Management seminar open to all North American members, of which 9 Canadian members attended. The meeting started with a breakfast meeting and a report from each attendee on their business status using the EFOBAG model.

E – Equipment issues or upgrades
F – Financial reporting
O – Operations
B – Bad news
A – Advertising
G – Good news

The group then traveled to our store, located at 2573 E Quance Street and conducted a three hour “front door to back door” inspection and review of all procedures and processes. A critique of overall drycleaning quality was performed, using an industry specific evaluation/ grading system.

After lunch, a discussion followed of the individual member reviews as well as recommendations on possible areas of improvement.

The following day was spent analyzing and comparing member financials, to industry benchmarks with a keen focus on areas of improvement. Jacquelyn Stevens of Willms & Shier Law Firm of Toronto also attended and made a presentation on various changes made to Environment Canada regulations affecting the drycleaning industry.

Busy Bee Cleaners has been a member of the Methods for Management group for more than 8 years and is the only drycleaner in Saskatchewan to participate. Methods for Management has been providing business consulting to the drycleaning industry since 1947. Kermit Engh of Omaha, Nebraska is the CEO and meeting facilitator.

“Bee Bridal” Thrives on Continued Education

Bee Bridal, a division of Busy Bee Cleaners, strives to always BEE learning the newest and most successful cleaning methods for today’s trends!

March 8 thru 11th, 2018 our Wedding Gown Specialist, Wendy Shankowsky, flew to the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists Annual Conference, in San Antonio, Texas. As Saskatchewan’s only certified wedding gown specialists, accredited by the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists and endorsed by the Association of Bridal Consultants, we continue to educate ourselves on the most current and innovative technology when it comes to pressing, cleaning, restoration and preservation of your wedding gown.

This year, the conference key topics included:

  1. wedding gown restoration, including a new cleaning procedure that works at removing yellowing and stains from vintage wedding gowns;
  2. wedding gown preservation; and
  3. in-depth “how-to” of handling delicate fabrics and intricate bead work.

We look forward to implementing these new techniques, as many of today’s brides wish to wear their mother or grandmother’s hand me down gowns; which when not preserved correctly, have major discoloration and stubborn stains from storage over the years.

Stay tuned on our social media platforms, as we share “real-life” customer wedding gown before & after photos!

With more than 35 years of experience under our belt, you can trust your wedding gown will receive the finest care to ensure it is protected and preserved for the future. We want you to take comfort in knowing your gown will be handled with the utmost care, by an educated professional.
